LAB: ACI External Network Connectivity to External Switch via Trunk

Topology:

TASK: Follow the below following task to configure Trunk link to connect External Switch for External Network Connectivity.

TASK1: Configure AEP profile along with Switch Profile.

  • Create the AEP profile named DCL-L3-AEP with enable Infrastructure VLAN: checked and associate Interface policy Group named DCL-L3-POLICY-GROUP and call 1G Link Level Policy, CDP enable policy, LLDP enable Policy create Interface Profile named DCL-L3-INTERFACE-PROFILE and associate with it.
  • Configure Switch Profile Policy named DCL-SW-PROFILE and select Leaf 102 and port 1/5 over which external Switch is connected.

  TASK2: Configure VLAN Pool for External Bridge Domain.

  • Configure VLAN Pool named DCL-EXTERNAL-ROUTED-VLAN-POOL
  • Use static allocation and use VLAN 110 to 120.

TASK3: Configure External Routed Domain

  • Configure Layer 3 External Routed Domain named DCL-EXTERNAL-ROUTED-DOMAIN
  • Associate AEP DCL-L3-AEP with it
  • Use VLAN Pool DCL-EXTERNAL-ROUTED-VLAN-POOL in it.

Solution:

TASK1: Configure AEP profile along with Switch Profile.

  • Create the AEP profile named DCL-L3-AEP with enable Infrastructure VLAN: checked and associate Interface policy Group named DCL-L3-POLICY-GROUP and call 1G Link Level Policy, CDP enable policy, LLDP enable Policy create Interface Profile named DCL-L3-INTERFACE-PROFILE and associate with it.
  • Configure Switch Profile Policy named DCL-SW-PROFILE and select Leaf 102 and port 1/5 over which external Switch is connected.

Create the AEP profile named DCL-L3-AEP with enable Infrastructure VLAN: checked

  • Fabric click Access Policies | Global Policies | Attachable Access Entity Profiles.
  • Right-click the Attachable Access Entity Profiles and then select Create Attachable Access Entity Profile
  • In the Create Attachable Access Entity Profile named DCL-L3-AEP with enable Infrastructure VLAN: checked

We have already discussed how to create the Interface Policy, Interface Policy Groups, Interface Profile and Switch Profile, so here we are only providing you screen shots of these policies and not steps:

If you create any external bridge and routed domain and if AEP is not attached to it, you may see inconsistent result
