Apstra Interface MAP Overview

Apstra Interface MAP Overview

Interface maps in combination with device profiles and logical devices to help assign actual interfaces (like ge-0/0/0 of a Juniper QFX) to a port group. Interface maps are the glue that brings together device profiles, logical devices, and real vendor equipment so that Juniper Apstra understands how you intend for each physical device's interfaces to operate. For example, after creating an interface map for a Juniper QFX5100-48S, Juniper Apstra detects the purpose of every interface on the chassis. It detects that you intend for xe-0/0/0, xe-0/0/1, xe-0/0/2, and xe-0/0/3 to be attached to generic devices. It detects that you intend et-0/0/48, et-0/0/49, et-0/0/50, and et-0/0/51 to be attached to spine nodes. These are just examples, but know that you can use any combination of device profiles and logical devices in an interface map to help specify any type of connectivity that you want. Juniper Apstra comes pre-installed with various device profiles, logical devices, and interface maps for various vendor equipment which you can choose to use or create your own.
